Designed for working professionals
EPEX is the forum for anyone looking to share knowledge and network around the activities in Ontario licensed under the Oil, Gas & Salt Resources Act and new Geologic Carbon Storage Act. From exploration, to operations, to plugging.
Themes this year include energy storage (including new horizontal gallery concepts), hydrogen storage, salt mining, well services, well plugging, and legacy wells. Geological, engineering, operating, and policy knowledge will be shared.
Built around connection
The program is structured to create space for conversation: focused talk blocks, trade show spotlight sessions, and dedicated networking breaks that make it easier to find collaborators, vendors, and mentors.
Our goal is to connect people with people, resources, knowledge, and business.

Core Workshop: Using the Matt Rine Pinnacle Reef Model to better understand the Petrolia East Oil Reef
Hands-on core + log interpretation
This workshop focuses on Silurian pinnacle reef sediments in the Michigan Basin, using a modern reef model (including updated facies nomenclature) and practical subsurface examples to support exploration, development, and storage work.
The session is designed to connect core observations with wireline logs and regional/field-scale cross-sections, so attendees can translate geology into decisions.

Expect a clear geological story, supporting visuals, and a practical “how to think about the reservoir” take-away. The workshop will also support physical/digital model outputs used for education and reference.

Who can attend?
EPEX is open to anyone. Members of the OPI do receive preferred rates.
Attendees will probably have an interest in the business, operations, science, or exploration of activities relating to wells licensed under to Oil, Gas & Salt Resources Act or the Geologic Carbon Storage Act.
Is this event technical, or more general?
EPEX is technical and practice-oriented. Sessions are accessible to a broad audience, but the goal is to deliver useful detail, not high-level marketing.
The Trade Show floor is geared to the operational side of your companies.
Will slides or recordings be available?
Most technical talks will become available later in the year as our video gold volume is published to preserve industry knowledge.
Attending in person is highly recommended as a way to network with members accross the industry and regulators.
